Biography
Dr Joaquin Rams is full professor of the Rey Juan Carlos University, currently being the Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering and Electronics Technolgy. Before he has conducted research at the Complutense University of Madrid and he obtained his PhD at the Autonoma University of Madrid. He has made several research stays at the Stanford University and the University of Sussex in Brighton. He has also collaborated with other universities such as Sheffield University (UK), Queensland University (Au) and KIT (Ge), among others. He is evaluator of European Projects, as well as from other countries, and he is also Assessor of the Australian Research Council. He has been also Coordinator of the Materials Technology in the Spanish Evaluation and Prospective Agency. He has published a hundred papers in JRC journals and many invited lectures. He is PI of the Materials Science and Engineering Group at his university which has an active role in national and international projects. In the last years he has focused on the use of Magnesium alloys as biomaterials and in its modification for the optimization of its behavior.
