After a training as technician for ceramic processing in 1989 and studies in process and materials engineering, Annett Dorner-Reisel, worked as scientific staff. She received her PhD at the age of 27 years from TU Chemnitz (D). She specialized in biomaterials and hybrid structures for biomedical and functional materials for transportation and energy sector, i.e. sensor/actor applications or high performance carbon allotropes. Dr. Dorner-Reisel carried out postdoctoral studies at UC Santa Barbara, USA and Nagoya Institute of Research, Japanmailto:annettdornerreisel@web.de. Following second doctoral degree (Habilitation) at the age of 32 years at the Bergakademie Freiberg (D), she worked several years in industry before engaging 2011 in a professorship position at the Schmalkalden University HS SM. Since 2017, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Dorner-Reisel is head of the research group “Bio-STEP” at HS SM, which clusters several researchers from different working directions like materials, production technology electronics and signal transfer. Bio-STEP focuses on biomaterials, biogenic materials for energy and light weight sectors, bionics and biomimetic.

She trained from experts and teachers in Personal Development and Alternative Medicine in Europe, America and Asia becoming a Doctor of Sciences specializing in Quantum Energy Medicine. She is a Lecturer, Seminar leader, Coach and Quantum Biofeedback & Bioresonance Expert promoting Quantum Technologies & Therapies and training & coaching practitioners in their understanding and practice of this new approach to health and wellness. She is the Founder and Chairperson of BioQuantique SARL (Geneva) and BioQuantum (Canada).

Matej Buzgo, MSc has experience in development of drug delivery systems by electrospinning, centrifugal spinning and electrospraying. His main interest is in preparation of core/shell nanofibers by needleless electrospinning and centrifugal spinning for drug delivery of proteins and small molecules. He is coauthor of >25 scientific publications, >5 national and European patents and leads one European and one nation grant projects.

Dr. Bharat Bhushan received an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1971, an M.S. in mechanics and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1973 and 1976, respectively, an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute at Troy, NY in 1980, Doctor Technicae from the University of Trondheim at Trondheim, Norway in 1990, a Doctor of Technical Sciences from the Warsaw University of Technology at Warsaw, Poland in 1996, and Doctor Honouris Causa from the National Academy of Sciences at Gomel, Belarus in 2000 and University of Kragujevac, Serbia in 2011. He is a registered professional engineer. He is presently an Ohio Eminent Scholar and The Howard D. Winbigler Professor in the College of Engineering, and the Director of the Nanoprobe Laboratory for Bio- & Nanotechnology and Biomimetics (NLB2) and affiliated faculty in John Glenn College of Public Affairs at the Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. In 2013-14, he served as an ASME/AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, House Committee on Science, Space & Technology, United States Congress, Washington, DC. His research interests include fundamental studies with a focus on scanning probe techniques in the interdisciplinary areas of bio/nanotribology, bio/nanomechanics and bio/nanomaterials characterization and applications to bio/nanotechnology, and biomimetics. He is an internationally recognized expert of bio/nanotribology and bio/nanomechanics using scanning probe microscopy, and is one of the most prolific authors. He is considered by some a pioneer of the tribology and mechanics of magnetic storage devices. He has authored 8 scientific books, 90+ handbook chapters, 800+ scientific papers (h-index – 76+; ISI Highly Cited Researcher in Materials Science since 2007 and in Biology and Biochemistry since 2013; ISI Top 5% Cited Authors for Journals in Chemistry since 2011), and 60+ technical reports. He has also edited 50+ books and holds 20 U.S. and foreign patents. He is co-editor of Springer NanoScience and Technology Series and co-editor of Microsystem Technologies, and Member of Editorial Board of PNAS. He has given more than 400 invited presentations on six continents and more than 200 keynote/plenary addresses at major international conferences.

Since Sept 1, 2014, Lars Montelius is Director General for INL, The International Iberian nanotechnology Laboratory located in Braga, Portugal. INL is the only by legal status International nanotechnology RTO worldwide. Lars Montelius is also Professor in Nanotechnology at Lund University, Sweden. During his 30 years of nanotechnology activities he has held several leading positions within academia, networks and EU-and professional societies. LM has published more than 144 articles, given more than 70 invited talks and has filed 24 patents. LM is also the founder of several nanotech companies. Currently he is the President for IUVSTA: The International Union for Vacuum Science, Technique and Applications comprising 34 national societies with more than 100 000 scientists, researchers and practitioners in the field and he is Working Group Chair of the two European Technology.

Dr Joaquin Rams is full professor of the Rey Juan Carlos University, currently being the Head of the Department of Applied Mathematics, Materials Science and Engineering and Electronics Technolgy. Before he has conducted research at the Complutense University of Madrid and he obtained his PhD at the Autonoma University of Madrid. He has made several research stays at the Stanford University and the University of Sussex in Brighton. He has also collaborated with other universities such as Sheffield University (UK), Queensland University (Au) and KIT (Ge), among others. He is evaluator of European Projects, as well as from other countries, and he is also Assessor of the Australian Research Council. He has been also Coordinator of the Materials Technology in the Spanish Evaluation and Prospective Agency. He has published a hundred papers in JRC journals and many invited lectures. He is PI of the Materials Science and Engineering Group at his university which has an active role in national and international projects. In the last years he has focused on the use of Magnesium alloys as biomaterials and in its modification for the optimization of its behavior.

Graduated with honors and received PhD in Physics from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. Started his scientific carrier at P.N. Lebedev Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow and later worked in many research centers worldwide. At present, he is Professor of Physics at Leibniz University Hannover and Head of Nanotechnology Department at the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V.

Expert in innovation, business development and internationalization, lecturer in some busianess schools, he is passionate about biomedicine and technology. In his free time he is also researcher at the Biopathology and Regenerative Medicine Institute (IBIMER).

Lorenzo Pastrana is Professor of Food Science at UVIGO where he was the Director of the Centre of Research transference and Innovation (CITI) and Head of Knowledge Transfer Office (2009-2010). He founded the Galician Agri-Food Technology Platform (2006) join academic institutions and companies paving the clustering of the sector. Since 2015 he is Head of the Department of Life Sciences at INL that include three Research Units, namely Food, Environment and Health. At INL his research, leading the Food Processing Group, is marked oriented with a multidisciplinary approach integrating methods and concepts of the biotechnology, nanotechnology and mathematical modelling. Currently he is working in three main research lines: Food Structure with emphasis in 3D printing materials, encapsulation technologies for improving functional foods and active and intelligent food packaging. He is author of more than 120 scientific contributions and 4 licenced patents relating the development of new food products and process. He was the PI of more than 30 National and European research projects and contracts arising funds around 2000K€.
